There’s never a bad time to walk your dog to or from a pub, however Autumn is definitely our favourite. The season of ‘mists and mellow fruitfulness’ holds the promise of crisp conditions and the added interest of leaf piles for inquisitive hounds.
If you are one of the people visiting the areas surrounding Linton in Craven who are looking for dog friendly walks, or better still a dog friendly Inn with nearby walks, then look no further than Fountaine Inn. Use us as a welcoming base from which to get into the great outdoors, enjoy some fresh air and start or finish your walk with a pint or a meal from our excellent selection of menus.
Walking your dog in Wharfdale
We’re literally surrounded by dog friendly walks both in our village and across the dale in Grassington. Some of the best were captured in a Yorkshire Life article on the six best walks around Grassington, published last year. The article includes walks from Grassington to Conistone, a loop walk that goes past our door joining Linton, Burnsall & Grassington and even some that are a little further afield. Whichever you choose there will be a warm welcome on your triumphant return.
If any of that sounds tempting, then why not have a think about visiting us.
Seasonal dog walking tips
Whenever you are planning to walk, there are a few tips you should follow to make sure every adventure is a happy one. On shorter, darker days; Invest in some high viz for you and your dog and carry a dedicated torch.
When the days eventually get brighter and warmer, replace the high viz and torch with sunscreen and water (for you and the dog). Then, whenever you go remember that having a charged phone is a modern day essential, as is keeping your pooch on a lead, especially in open countryside.
Enjoy the walk and we’ll look forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
